I was honored to be a part of the first Annual Mitchell Thorp Walkathon and so proud to live in Carlsbad. What an incredible show of support. I heart my community!!!
The Mitchell Thorp Foundation(MTF) is a nonprofit organization, commemorating Mitchell’s shortened life of 18 years and his five-year heroic struggle against an undiagnosed illness.
Mitchell’s strength and courage, along with the community’s support, collectively inspired the family to establish the MTF that provides financial benefits and emotional support to families burdened with childhood disease or disorders.
In addition, the MTF provides scholarships and awards to promising young athletes, like Mitchell, acknowledging their accomplishments in youth baseball as a player and role model.
The 1st Annual Mitchell Thorp Walkathon was a huge success with approximately 1,000 people coming out in person to show their support and approximately 500 more people showing their support by sponsoring participants or making donations. Over $60,000, was raised, which will help ease the financial burden placed upon the MTF families.
